About the scholarship:

The “CGU Scholarship Guideline for International Students” is enacted pursuant to the “Regulations Governing the Subsidy for Colleges, Universities and Ancillary Mandarin Centers of Colleges and Universities to Set Up the Scholarship for International Students” to advance the international academic cooperation policy of the Ministry of Education and to enroll distinguished international students. 

  • Eligibility: international students who meet any of the following qualifications may apply for the scholarship.
  1. Undergraduate students must have enrolled in CGU for more than 1 semester and have not exceeded 4 years (8 semesters), completed a minimum of nine credits in the previous semester, and the average grade is above 70 in all semesters.
  2. For graduate students must have enrolled in CGU for more than 1 semester and have not exceeded 4 years (8 semesters) for PhD programs, 2 years (4 semesters) for Master's programs and have taken at least one course in each semester, and the average grade is above 75 in all semesters.
  3. In addition to the qualifications prescribed in the preceding paragraph, graduate students who are writing a thesis and do not have any academic record from the last semester shall submit a thesis proposal and a recommendation letter from advisor.
  4. Students receiving scholarships from any other R.O.C. government agencies (for example: Taiwan Scholarship or any other Taiwan government scholarship) are not eligible.  
  • Application Period: from April 25th to May 12th, 2017 (late or incomplete application will not be processed).
  • Application Procedure: submit the required documents to the Center for International Academic Cooperation (13F, Management Building).

    3. A copy of official English/Chinese transcript of all semesters. (instructions)
    4. Recommendation letter of advisor and thesis proposal (ONLY required for applicants who are writing a thesis and do not have any academic record from the last semester)
    5. Applications that are incomplete or do not meet the requirements shall be rejected.

1.  Can I apply for this scholarship if I receive stipend from CGU?

Ans: Yes, students receiving CGU stipend can apply. CGU stipend is not government scholarship.

2.  Do I need to submit a recommendation letter and thesis proposal?

Ans: If you have taken at least 1 course ever semester, the required documents are application form and transcript.

         If you didn't take any course for the past semester (no score), and then you are required to submit your thesis proposal.   

3. Are students in semester 1 eligible to apply?

Ans: No, students need to be enrolled for more than 1 semester; in other words, students need to be enrolled before 2017 spring semester.
